DAX PV Query

Hi all

We are trying to replicate this from the Power BI support pages (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/pv-function-dax)

PV(<rate>, <nper>, <pmt>[, <fv>[, <type>]])

Our code: Settlement3 = PV([APR]/1200, [Months Left 2], [NetInstalment] [, [Balloon], [, 0]])

We seem to get a syntax error on the balloon - see screenshot below.  We have tried reaching out to Power BI Support, but they say that this is outside of their scope ... any ideas?

Hi @PhilipTreacy , thanks for that.  We seem to be a little closer but not quite there yet.  We're now getting this error message:

Division by zero has occurred when evaluating function 'PV'.

We found this and tried it but did not work

you can turn on feture to allow unrestricted measures in directquery which should then be able to use IFERROR function. You can go to File -> Options and settings -> DirectQuery.

Hi @Kirstie

I don't know how that is happening.  When I substitite 0 into any/all of the arguments for the PV function, I don't get that error.

It's really hard to debug this without seeing your file, can you provide it.  Or at least a sample of the file that includes the PV function that generates this error.

Regards

Phil

Hi @Kirstie

The [] arounf <fv and <type>indicate an optional argument for the funtion and the [] shouldnt' be included when writing the function.  It's a bit confusing because the [] also indicate a column

Try this

Settlement3 = PV([APR]/1200, [Months Left 2], [NetInstalment], [Balloon], 0)

Regards

Phil
