Connecting from SSRS 2016 to Power BI

I'm having some authentication trouble with the Pin to Power BI feature in SSRS 2016. The problem is authentication. The report server itself is configured and connected to a Power BI tenant, but whenever the Sign in feature is accessed from the Report Portal, authentication occurs, and then the windows simply disappear. The client is not logged in, and not items can be pinned. It seems like something is blocking the token being saved. I've tried on multiple browsers, machines, etc....

A little more digging reveals a "bad request" authentication issue - "The client application requires at least one Graph permission"

Has anyone experienced this, or have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Hi @diverdown1964,

In your scenario, please follow steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check if "the user performing the Power BI integration needs to be a member of the Azure AD tenant, a Reporting Services system administrator and a system administrator for the ReportServer catalog database". Also you can check other requirements listed in this article: Requirements for Power BI Integration.

2. Update the registration in Report Server Configuration Manager.

3. Check if browser has been configured to allow pop-ups from your report server site. And always run the browser as Administrator.

4. Repair report server via launch setup.exe, then choose Repair on Maintenance tab.

5. Use Fiddler to trace http traffic.

6. Check if any error message logged in Reporting Services error log (default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles) around the time that you sign in the account in report server.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Hi Qiuyun

I have gone through all of those steps. The error that I reported was from Fiddler - it's the only way to see it.

I have since been told by Riccardo Muti that this is an ongoing Azure AD issue, and will be fixed.

Thanks
