Connecting GUID to projects

Hi all,

I have a list of data coming from project online site and I need to make a connection in power bi for reporting persepective.

the problem is that my list includes GUID ID like "8e6c1875-7103-b4d5-b8t0-e1cf4a0c2251" and I don;t how to make a connection with project lists,

is there any way to convert the GUID to project ID or something like this?

Hi @Archie-gh ,

Sorry for misunderstanding...

According to this

the problem is that my list includes GUID ID like "8e6c1875-7103-b4d5-b8t0-e1cf4a0c2251" and I don;t how to make a connection with project lists,

So are there two tables(or more) : GUID table and Project table? Are there any linkable columns between these two tables? If not, what logic is used to connect them?

Can you please share more detail information about your table to help us clarify your scenario?

Best Regards,
Eyelyn Qin

Sure,

in project online, each proejct and task have an ID.

GUID is a link or address of each list connected to the project like below

https://xxxxx.com/sites/pwa/Name%20Of%20Project/_layouts/15/listedit.aspx?List=%7B8e6c1875-7103-b4d5-b8t0-e1cf4a0c2251%7D

(Bold and underlined numbers are GUID)

my question is

can I extarct project ID from GUID? if yes how?

if No, what is the best way to extract the projectid from a list?

hope that help you

Hi @Archie-gh ,

You could follow: Duplicate a table which has GUID column -->Select the GUID column-->Remove other columns--Remove duplicate rows>Add an Index column。

Then you could merge with other tables so that they will have a more simple ID column (Index column)
