Good morning Guys,
There is a way to change a existing connection (ODBC) of a PivotTable in Excel to Power BI? I tried the traditional method but I get this error: "You cannot choose a connection file that is incompatible with the existing connection. excel"
thanks in advance.
Hi @redbaron,
Based on your description, you want to change PivotTable data source in Excel. As the issue is more related to Excel, I would recommend you post the question in the Excel IT Pro Discussions forum to get dedicated support.
In addition, in Power BI, there is a feature called Analyze in Excel. With Analyze in Excel, you can view and interact with a dataset you have access to in Power BI, and thereby access PivotTable, chart, and slicer features directly in Excel. If you want to create PivotTable for Power BI dataset, you can use the Analyze in Excel feature, for more details, please review this article: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-analyze-in-excel/ .
Morover, you are able to pin pivottable from Excel to Power BI dashboard following the instructions in this article.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
Hi Lydia, thanks for your help!! I know there is a option "Analyze in Excel". A customer has several reports that use Oracle data with ODBC connections. I want to replace existing connections with the ODC file connection created using Analyze in Excel option. I will follow your suggestion and will go to Excel forum.
Thanks again.
David.
