Cannot retrieve data from SSAS with permission over specific Measures

Hi all,

I have a SQL Server Analysis Services Database running on-premises.

I created a Role, and specified only one measure that role can access:

Screenshot_8.jpg

If I use the Import mode when connecting to that cube, it works fine, I see data correctly under the measure where the permission is given, and I don't see data in other measures:

The problem is when I want to use Live Connection mode, I get the following error:

Also, it get stacked in that message, if I click on Cancel, the message keeps appearing over and over.

Can you help me? Does someone has a solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Re: Cannot retrieve data from SSAS with permission over specific Measures

Hi @gonzalopiskorz,

By my tests with connecting SSAS which configured with RLS by live connection and import mode, everything works as expected.

rls.PNG

What kind of your credential when you use live connection?

Please create a measure with USERNAME() to get your current windows credential and check if this accout have permissions to access the data source in SSAS?

Best Regards,

Cherry

Re: Cannot retrieve data from SSAS with permission over specific Measures

Hi @v-piga-msft thanks for your response,

I use the Windows AD credentials of the user which I'm testing the permissions for:

USERNAME.jpg

This is the role I created and the memberchip with that user, so it has permissions to access the data source in SSAS, so that's why I could test with import mode and it's working fine:

@gonzalopiskorz I have the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?
