I piloted Power BI for my company and they loved it. I was using a Personal Gateway on my laptop to connect to our SQL servers, which obviously isn't a good long-term solution. So today I got the On-Prem (Enterprise) gateway installed on a local windows server. I signed in there and got it set up.
I also uninstalled the Personal Gateway on my PC, cleared my .pbix file from PowerBI.com and re-uploaded it.
When I try to set up refresh, here's what I see:
The "use a data gateway" choice is not there. I read up on everything I could on this forum and have repeatedly removed and added the gateway with different connection strings to try to match what's in my .pbix, but no dice. You can also see that it says my personal gateway is offline. How do I get it to realize I don't have one anymore? Here's my gateway screen:
As you can see, there's only a company gateway there, not a personal. How do I get this to work, or at least troubleshoot it better? I see no way of testing connectivity other than crossing fingers and hoping it shows up...
Thanks,
Doug
Hi @ddinwoodie,
Please make sure that the data source added under the On-premises Gateway are configured exactly as the Personal Gateway, otherwise the “Use a data gateway” option will be disabled. For more details, please review this similar thread: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Integrations-with-Files-and/Moving-from-personal-gateway-to-the-ent... .
By the way, are there are any other data sources(such as Excel)besides SQL Server data source in your PBIX file? If you have other data sources, you will also need to add them under the On-premises Gateway.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
