I've been able to connect to our Salesforce objects forever now without issue. I've now encountered a situation where I need to instead connect to reports and it just isn't working. Whenever I try to connect it just sits here and spins and never moves forward:
Has anybody ever experienced this? I can't think of what the issue could be.
Hi, were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
Hi @Anonymous
Do you use "Salesforce objects" connector or "Salesforce Reports" connector?
If you use Salesforce Reports connector, please note that
there is a limitation with Salesforce reports as a source that limits the rows you can pull in per report to 2000.

@v-juanli-msft I understand, I've found a way around it but now I'm confused because a report I created does not show up in the list of reports. I created 1 report that I am able to locate, so I created another report to do the same and it didn't work. Is there a limitation on report types? It may not be showing up because I think it is a custom report type.
Hi @Anonymous
"so I created another report to do the same and it didn't work",
this means this report doesn't work on Salesforce?
If so, it can't show when connecting with Power BI.
How many reports are there in the list?
Please know the limitation: Salesforce Reports and Power BI Desktop - only returns first 10,000 reports
You could see more possibilities why not all reports show in the list from the following post.
"Can´t I see all my Salesforce reports in Get Data"
When connecting to a Saleforce content pack with Power BI Service, it should support custom reports and show all reports without limitation above.
"Select one or more custom reports from your Salesforce account. These reports will match your views in Salesforce and can include data from custom fields or objects".
