CRM Content pack

Currently trying to connect to CRM online. The closest I can get is through PowerBI.com. I have gone through get services and used the Dynamics CRM Content pack. I have then put in the url and used OAuth2 as authentication. Then put in the matching details to my power BI login. This seems to be accepted and the content pack starts to load but thats when it all goes wrong. The sale Manager dashboard shows loading but then the report fails to publish and the data set fails to publish.

Do I need to do anything within CRM to ensure I can access the system and data through OData.

Thanks

M

Re: CRM Content pack

We are experiancing this same issue. Still an open problem on our end as well. The only thing that has worked is selectively pulling things into PBI Desktop and publishing from there.

Re: CRM Content pack

Thats not good. I am trying to connect to CRM online and the content pack was one of my options and currently all of the others are failing to work. Tried Power Query and Desktop designer and neither are working as expected.

Not looking good at all.

Re: CRM Content pack

The content pack is built ontop of the same path as the Desktop/Power Query CRM Online connector. While the out-of-box content may not work for everyone due to the data size or the permissions required to connect to it, the Desktop/Power Query path should work as it will only show what you have access to. What types of issues are you seeing there?

Re: CRM Content pack

The CRM content pack worked like a champ for me and also all of the other methods to connect to the OData feed from CRM Online. Seems like a case of either it is going to work or not. I didn't do anything special, just entered the credentials I normally use to logon to CRM Online directly. Obviously, try that directly against CRM Online and make sure you can logon and see things. I do have pretty much "god" access to the CRM Online environment so perhaps it is a specific role setting. Give yourself every role and see if that fixes it.

This article might help as well but probably only once you can connect to the OData feed:

Re: CRM Content pack

Thanks guys. The content pack is still failing. I can now connect through Power Query and POwer BI Desktop designer. Would like to get the content pack up and running. Will double check permissions as I can not see some data when connected through Power BI Desktop designer even though I can see the tables.

Cheers

Mark

Re: CRM Content pack

I can get the content pack to load fine in the Power BI app but I'd love to see it in the Desktop or Power Query so I could add fields.  It's great for some out of the box but there's no customizations (unless I'm missing something)
