Add odbc data source to On-Premises Gateway throws IM003 Access is denied to driver DLL

Hi,

My gateway does not have access to my odbc driver. How do i grant access?

In my Power Bi Service I have installed "On-Premises Data Gateway" (not personal mode)

I want to add to the gateway a known good 64-bit ODBC Data Source System DSN "x".

In https://app.powerbi.com/ select cog icon then "Manage Gateways"
then select gateway cluster (which has status "Online: Your are good to go.")
then link "Add data sources to use the gateway"
Data Soure Type ODBC
Connection String dsn=x
authentication method basic
privacy level Organizational (default)

when i click "Add" system throws error

Unable to connect: We encountered an error while trying to connect to . Details: "We could not register this data source for any gateway instances within this cluster. Please find more details below about specific errors for each gateway instance."Hide details

I solved it using the following troubleshooting guide

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-proxy#changing-the-gateway-service-account...

start run services

then for on-premises data gateway service

on the tab log on changed the user to use

Local Service Account
Y=Allow service to interact with desktop

then recovered the gateway using the recovery key

Sorted!
