Paginated reports - navigation in mobile app

Hi,

I have a Power BI app with paginated reports (20+ RDL reports). I would like to ask your advice - what options I have to build navigation from lading page (main RDL report) to other detailed reports (RDL reports as well) via mobile app. In web app what works nicely for me is the "Action > Go to URL" buttons. I provide reports URL and add report parameter names and values to the URL so that I can achieve the navigation and pass the report parameters from landing page to detaled reports. However in mobile app this "Action > Go to URL" buttons don't open in the app but in the browser and require login. Could you advice is there any other smart way to achieve it? I know I can use the new navigation pane in the app but I'm afraid there's no option to pass the report parameters there.

Cheers,

Artur

Hey @Anonymous ,

In-app linking from a paginated report is currently not supported in Power BI Mobile apps.

You can add links to report (PBIX) or dashboard that point to paginated report, but links instead paginated reports are currently not working.

We have added that gap to our backlog.

Thanks, Maya

Hi @Anonymous

Please try modifying the URLs as below format to add redirections to them:

Or a link that opens only on a device that has the Power BI mobile app installed:

  • mspbi://app/OpenReport?ReportObjectId=<36-character-report-id>

Refer to below link for more details:

Create a link to a specific location in the Power BI mobile apps - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Kindly let me know if this helps.

Hi @v-jingzhang

thank you for your reply. I followed your advice from the first bullet point - I crated the URL the following way:

https://app.powerbi.com/Redirect?action=OpenRdlReport&appId=<app_id>&reportObjectId=<report_id>&ctid...

I'm using it as a "Action > Go to URL" in textbox on my paginated report (RDL).

It works OK in the web app - when I click on the textbox, it opens a new tab with the target report.

But in mobile app when I click on the textbox it opens a page asking me to install Power BI app. Strange as obviously I have it installed, I'm using it right now... I can't get to the target report anyhow.

I'm using Power BI app version 2125193. My device is Mi 9T on Android 10 QKQ1.190825.002.

Is it possible that you try to reproduce this scenario and let me know if it works OK for you?

Cheers,

Artur

Hi @Anonymous I will test it and get back to you in two days. Is that ok?
