Navigation Between Reports in the Mobile App

We are using Power BI Report Server (on Premise) with the Mobile App, we have built several reports using Power BI Desktop (Version May 2020).

The client is asking to have a proper navigation mechanism in the reports so they can navigate from one report to another from within the report itself.

For this purpose, we added a button (Type: Web URL) and we set the Web URL to the other report we want to open (as per following snapshot).

This navigation button is not working on iPad (iOS) using the Report Server mobile app. When user browse the first report, in the mobile app then he clicks the navigation button, he gets redirected to safari and it is asking him to enter the username/password again.

Navigation between power bi reports on Power BI Report Server mobile app is opening safari instead of redirecting to the report within the mobile app itself.

Please note that the cross drill through is not available for on premise Report Server, so it is not a solution in our case, that’s why we are using the navigation buttons.

Question:

We need to navigate between the reports in the mobile app itself without opening safari and getting away from the mobile app. Is there a workaround to solve this issue?

Hi @powerleb

According to below document, navigation between reports in the mobile app is supported for reports in Power BI Service, but it doen't mention whether it's supported for Power BI Report Server. You may have a try.

Create a link to a specific location in the Power BI mobile apps - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Hello @v-jingzhang , Thank you for your answer. We already tried your suggestion however it didn't work in Power BI report server

Hi @powerleb,

could you provide a (censored) version of the link you currently use?

Hi @Markus_Re , it is not possible to share the link because the data is on premise and confidential. We opened a ticket with Microsoft support, they inform us that browsing the reports in the mobile app using link buttons is not supported.

Hey @powerleb ,

In-app links are not supported in Power BI Mobile app at the moment. This is in our backlog, but not planned for this semester.

Thanks, Maya
