Error "Couldn't get data" when accessing an App on Power BI Mobile

Hi,

We built a report which needs to be accessible by anybody from the organization. For this, we published the report as an App and we gave “Entire orginization” access to the App.

We provided the link to the App to our users so they won’t have to add the app to their profile manually.

There seem to have an issue when a user try to access the App on Power BI Mobile for the first time using the provided link.

It always works if the user has the app already added to their list.  Failure is intermittent if it’s not on their list, but it will (most of the time) add the app to their app list even if they see the error which stops future errors.

The error we get is “Couldn’t get data”.

Here’s our test cases :

Steps

Delete the app from the list using a web browser.
Refresh the phone to see it disappear
Tap on the link directly from the phone (from an email)
See if there is an error message.

Hello @jtrembl1 .

I'm Erez from the Power BI mobile team.

Instantiating an app from the mobile device should be supported. We weren't able to reproduce the problem you indicated in our systems.

Can you share the URL that you used throughout your organization in order to share this app?

In case this is a URL for a specific artifact (dashboard/report) and not for the app itself, this might happen.

Thank you,

Erez.

Hi @erezone  and @v-shex-msft,

This is not the link to the real report, but we're using the same link :

               https://app.powerbi.com/Redirect?action=OpenApp&appId=aac848a2-a8f9-4290-8255-3f8d8442297d&ctid=cf0e...

The system does add the App to the user's Apps, most of the time, but they still get the error. We had a lot of instance were the users would turn tail and not use the report after seeing the error.

Thank you

v-shex-msft

Hi @jtrembl1 ,

AFAIK, you need to add them on service side. Current it seems like you can't direct install published app on mobile side.
