Dashboard on app web content tiles require sign in

Dear all,

I have created a Dashboard containing some web content linking to an app shared with all my organization.

In Power BI online, the dashboard looks good and behave according to my expectation but I am facing an issue when I try to look at it from my phone. When designing the phone view from my computer, I can see all reports properly loading and then being displayed in the tiles. But when I try to see to the same dashboard from my phone (iOS), the tiles with web content have a "Sign In" button instead and when I try to click on it to activate the content, I am redirected to my app and can see the report there instead.

Is there a way to display the web content of my tiles without having to click on the tile? Can I "sign in" without having to click on the tile (so the tile content can load instead of being redirected to the app behing the tile)? How can I make sure the tile loads properly as it shows in the phone view from my computer?

Thank you in advance for your help.

With best regards,

Justine

Hi @Justine,

I think these should more related to power bi security, you can take a look at the following link to know more about these: (these security verifications will check the data storage, navigation, external link/contents if they point to an external resource that out of raw data source and power bi)

Hey @Justine

1) Are you using Power BI Mobile app or Safari?

2) Can you please explain how did you create the tile?

3) Can you share screen capture from your IPhone with the sign-in request?

Thanks, Maya

Hi Maya ( @mshenhav )

1) I am using the Power BI app available in the app store.

2) I added a new tile with web content, linked the embedded code of my report generated by the app (html) and added a custom link (external link) redirecting to the report in the app. From my computer, when I click on the mobile view of my dashboard, I have the following: https://ibb.co/L9tHxWz

3) Screen capture from the same dashboard on the iPhone:  https://ibb.co/dDf9pgb

I hope this helps 🙂

Hey @Justine ,

Thanks for the information.

Unfortunatily secure embed is not supported in the app. As an alternate approach I can suggest to pin the entire report to the dashbaord (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-dashboard-pin-tile-from-report#pin-...).

Can that work for you?

Thanks, Maya

Hey @mshenhav ,

Unfortunately this is not a solution for me as the app purpose is to have reports available to the whole organization.

Just to explain how I designed the reports, I created a workspace to store the reports and generated an app accessible to the whole organization. In that app, people can access reports and embed them to their own dashboard. This ensure that the report is always designed, managed and checked by my department and consistency of display accross the organization.

This is the only way I could figure out to handle reports centrally and avoid having to modify several reports when a change needs to be made on the display.

I have also another thread link to this design as I am facing some issues with the display in the tile with the embeded code: mobile version but also bookmarks (see other thread here).

Thank you for your feedback Maya.

With best regards,

Justine
