unable to upgrade from march 2018 version to August 2018 version

Team, 

I have an existing March 2018 installation of Power Bi Report server running on windows server 2012 environment.

when trying to upgrade to August 2018 version i am not getting the option "Upgrade Power Bi report server" Instead i am only seeing "Install Power BI report server"

 

any thoughts on how to resolver this?

Hi @vs_mande,

 

Based on my test, if we already have PBIRS march version installed, if we launch August PBIRS installer, there is a Upgrade Power BI report server option.

In your scenario, please go to Control Panel, check your Power BI report server version.

Hi Yu,

i was able to upgrade on another server without issues.

on this particular server , i have used the option to install the power Bi report server at the same location and the on premise report server has been upgraded with out any issues.

as a caution i have taken backup of both databsae and encryption keys in case of any failures.
