placeholder "Ask a question about your data" does not vanish in IE

In Power BI Service on Internet Explorer, the placeholder text in the Q&A input field does not vanish when you start typing your question.

Clicking into the field "Ask a question about your data" and writing "test" results in the query "Ask a question about your datatest" instead of just "test" as it should be:

I can reproduce this with different dashboards including the Sales and Marketing Sample on Internet Explorer 11.1155.15063.0 on Windows 10. In Firefox or Edge the placeholder vanishes as expected as soon as you start to type.
