I would like to see better error reporting for refreshes on the Power BI service so that I can self-serve common problems without needing to reach out to MS support each time, and reduce the time required for investigation.   For example the following message gives the error text, but no indication of which dataset is having problems - my report has 700 data sets, which is naturally not something I want to hunt-through!   Something went wrong There was an error when processing the data in the dataset. Hi all,   I have an issue where I am trying to switch an existing p&L layout to the new layout. However, some of my measure is adding or subtracting different accounts so when I used this as a switch it just won't work in the switc as below.   eg measure calculating direct expenses (adding direct expenses and direct depreciation)   act_mtd_direct_expenses = CALCULATE( SUM('b_p&l_financials_table'[mtd_actual]), 'b_p&l_financials_table'[new Acct Category] IN {"Net Direct Expenditure","Net Direct Depreciation"} )   Using the Swtich for the above measure doesnt work in the switch (replacing 20 with the measure above) mtd_actual_test2 = SWITCH ( CALCULATE(SELECTEDVALUE('a_p&l_layout'[key]),ALL('b_p&l_financials_table'[mtd_actual])), 20, act_mtd_direct_expenses )   Can someone please help I would really appreciate it. ... In order to ensure our dashboards are refreshing regularly, auto refresh has been applied to some of our users screens. They have now come across the page error issue of "You don't have access to view this page: Power BI was unable to read the application metadata. Please check the power BI service status in the below support page and try again later."  When they click refresh, that doesn't solve the issue, but when they click on the link again to the dashboard in the app, it works.    Any idea, if the auto refresh is indeed causing this issue and if there is any way around this?   ... This appeared to a few of our viz over the last 24 hours, and I can't find the root cause. Create a "Stacked Column with Line" Viz (1 set of columns & 2 lines) - All good in PBI Desktop. Publish to PBI, and one of the two lines disappear. Upon testing - If I rebuild that viz from scratch, then I (generally) can publish it. However occasionally, if I change some of the fields around it breaks and one line disappears. Going back to the fields that existed prior to the break doesn't fix it. If I copy a 'broken' viz, then I can't ever repar it. These viz have operated fine for over a year.    These two viz have the IDENTICAL viz settings & datamodel & on the same PBI report page.    ... When I simply reference a DirectQuery table, then attempt to apply the change, I get error: "Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'Unable to convert an M query in table... into a native source query'." At the same moment as this, it also throws "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." (for which I have the error details, stack trace, snapshots, etc.). The instructions in PowerBI Desktop indicated that I should submit all those details here, but I don't see a way to attach them, so when you reach out to me, we can figure out a way for me to get them to you. I'm working with .pbix files that usually weight 200-300kb, but since a few weeks ago, if I do evenn a small change (example fix a table size), not even adding or touching data, when I save it will turn into a 3200-3300kb file.    Is anyone else experiencing this? Hello All,  I just downloaded Powerbi and used it fine for one day.  The next day I logged on and I cannot open any workbooks. In addition, any time I try to get data with an excel file or simply type in data in the enter data field. I get a error that says: Something went wrong! An error occurred while rendering the report.    If I try to make any changes in the option, such as disabling ARCgis Map or touching anything in settings.    I get an error that says:  Something went wrong!  Object reference, not set to an object.      Essentially Powerbi functionality is completely useless, and restricted by errors on my work computer.    My personal laptop has no issues with operating what so ever. Can anyone assist? I deleted the cache folder and have followed numerous other suggestions to no avail.    ... View more

I have a PBI map that displays approximately 53,000 bubbles total.  Of those 53,000, there should be approximately 4,000 bubbles in the Greater Cincinnati area (which includes Northern KY and Eastern IN).  The remaining bubbles are in NC, SC and FL.  In the last couple of days, the bubbles in Cincinnati have stopped displaying when showing all geographic areas.   If I filter by state to only show OH/KY/IN (or any subset of the 3 states), my bubbles return.  Adding all states causes the Cincinnati area bubbles to disappear again.   This worked perfectly until a Wednesday or Thursday.  I did not publish any changes, and the report has not refreshed since Monday morning, at which point this was working as expected.   This is affecting the desktop and service. ... We seem to be encountering multiple different issues that are related to sharepoint .xlsx files in the reports.   For some, the desktop file no longer recognizes the file types in the sharepoint location giving the error that FileLeafRef.Suffix cannot be found. We have gotten around this by not referencing the column with the file type prior to expanding it but it's not really a fix.   Also, we have a file that has a SQL connection filtered by files in a sharepoint connection and then those files replace rows in the table. This works great in the desktop file but once it's pushed to the service PBI skips the filter step so our totals are essentially doubling. No amount of re-publishing, etc gets it to work properly. ... View more
