gateway issue with scheduled refresh

we have scheduled refresh for an report on daily basis. Try the below steps:

  1. Open your Power BI Desktop app
  2. Click 'File'
  3. Click 'Options and Settings'
  4. Click 'Data Source settings'
  5. Select the offending SQL server instance, from the list of data sources
  6. Click 'Edit permissions' button at base of prompt screen
  7. In this new prompt screen, under the 'Credentials' section, click the 'Edit' button to open a new prompt and select 'Windows'
  8. Select either 'Use my current credentials' or 'Use alternate crednetials' (up to you, I just used mine)
  9. Click' Save' button to close this prompt and return to the 'Edit Permissions' prompt screen.
    • In here there is an 'Encrypt connections' option. If your server accepts encrypted connections this will need to be ticked, mine doesn't and so I left it blank.
    • If you're not sure, don't worry. When you click 'Refresh All' a prompt will tell you if you need to be unencrypted and you can come back and untick this box.

Unable to publish Report - PowerBINotAuthorizedException

One report which is in mixed query mode i am unable to publish. When publishing via Desktop i get "An error occurred whilst attempting to publish 'report name': Publishing failed for an unknown reason. We have seen on the internal platform that other engineers have reported this issue and submitted it.

MS Teams group - adding to PBI workspace Issue

Hi Support,   When we add MS Teams group to PBI Workspace, sometimes user are able to see the content & sometimes they are not, it seems to be an intermittent issue. Very similar to what you mentioned above, I could not reproduce the problem properly, it worked fine for me.
This may be a temporary problem, does it happen frequently?

Python script editor bugs

Hi team,  2 issues with Py script editor: 1) "Duplicate rows will be removed.." error message keeps popping up without option to suppress it permanently 2) In order to use script window, it must add some (irrelevant) data to Visualization pane first. Workspaces Issue

Scheduled refresh issue

I tried to put a scheduled refresh on my report and this error message kept coming up everytime I try to enable a scheduled refresh on my report.     Data source error: Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. Please first select the corresponding workspace, then click Settings>Datasets, select the corresponding dataset. Go to Gateway connection option, check if the gateway is configured fine then go to Data source credentials option, check if any data source credential is required.

"Something went wrong" error March 2023 version

After downloading and installing the March 2023 version of Power BI Desktop, I get the "something went wrong" error when trying to open the app or pbix.  As part of the error, it generates multiple loops for sending the error details.  Occasionally, it will all work as expected.   Feedback Type: Frown (Error) Error Message: External component has thrown an exception. Power BI refresh failed with data from China

Hi Guys, We have refreshed Power bi reports failed in this 2 days.  And find that only the reports with data fom China were failed. Other reports with no China data were succeed. We have tried to refresh the reports using Power bi Desktop and Power bi Gateway. Our data source are from SQL Server (Include inland and outland).  And our network IT find the network in our company works as normal in this 2 days. Interaction between selection pane en formatting pane

Hi,   I noticed that the interaction between the selection pane and the formatting is not working properly. Recent update has changed this behaviour. It seems to 'select' the wrong visual.   For instance, I'm trying to format visual by selecting them from within the selection pane. For some kind of reason the selected visual is not represented in the formatting pane. The other 2 button "Add data to your visual" and "Add further analyses to your visual" work fine, but format your visual is not. Improve Bookmark for selected visuals / data for existing page/report filters

It is useful to define filters at different levels: all pages, current page and current visual   Defining standard report bookmarks is also a very powerful concept to control the interactive behaviour of a report. Therefore we often use bookmarks, which only refer to data (filtering) for selected visuals. Unfortunately the selection "selected visuals" does only include filter settings of the current visual, but not the filter settings at page or report level.   Feature request: it would be helpful to add following options for the bookmark scope settings: - selected visual (already existing) - selected visual + page filter (new) - selected visual + page/report filter (new) Cheers  Michael   ... This is by design, Page level or report level filters will not work with selected visual bookmarks because it is in conflict with the "selected visual" concept, as those are tied to the page or report, rather than the specific visual.

Let's tack an example, Column1 is in both visual1 and visual2, page level filter is set to Column1="A", then we save a bookmark on visual1 with "selected visual", after that we delete the page visual filter, Column1 in both visual show all data. When we select the bookmark now, if page level filter is included, the page level filter will also effect visual2, which is in conflict with the "selected visual" concept.

Visual Basic Filtering: selection by name versus index

If Basic Filtering is used for report, page or visual filtering, the selected items are stored by index position within the value list at the time of its creation.  Issue: If the value list changes (i.e. adding a new account team in the existing list of available teams), the genuine selection will not be preserved as intended, because it stores/retrieves the items selected by index position of the entry in the value list.   Request: please store/retrieve basic filter selections by value itself and not index position within the value list. Hi there!   I want put a highlight bar in a filter, when it's a value selecting. But the highlight only works in the filter, when I selecting values in other filter!! Bug: Date Hierarchy

Hi team, I am using PBI Desktop March 2023 version. I created a simple sample with same version for you to refer to .

My original data :

Then I add a clustered column chart with these data . In my test, when I switch the date to the hierarchy, it is possible to display to day. Here are the steps I took to do this.

Licenses are required whether you are sharing content with users inside or outside your organization. If you have not purchased a Pro license before, there is a possibility that your users are using the trial version of PPU license at that time.

  Hola comunidad Tengo la siguiente duda, ¿es posible distinguir las fuentes de datos? We can usually see the data source we are using in the Data source settings, but it is currently not possible to see the corresponding data source by table name. 

You can vote the idea and comment there to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . If a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

Improve Python Script performance

Hi team,    The current performance of Py script in both PBI desktop and service is horrible, no other way to put it: for a simple violin plot with a couple thousands lines of data (or less), it took PBI 10s+, comparing to less than 1s in native Py environment. It stops serious business users from using it.    Speaking as a big PBI fan, I hope MS development team can address this issue in a serious way. Imagine performance is improved significantly, it'd gain tremendous new user base. I know PBI competitors also have similar issue, so hope MS can be leader to get this done!   ... View more

Paginated reports allow you to specify the view of the report people will receive in the subscription by setting the parameters in the subscription pane.

  • Subscriptions can be sent with either the currently selected or default parameters for your report. You may set different parameter values for each subscription you create for your report.

  • If your report author has set expression-based parameters (for example, the default is always today's date), the subscription uses that as the default value. You can change other parameter values and choose to use current values, but unless you explicitly change that value as well, the subscription uses the expression-based parameter.
