We are building Power BI (PBI) reports, where we load data from our Snowflake environment. For connecting PBI to Snowflake, we set up a PBI gateway server which is needed to connect to an on premise database.
refreshing a small dataset in Snowflake is causing no issues, we can refresh the dataset. But refreshing a larger dataset (> 1,000 records), we get an error: “msg='Couldn't connect to server'”. See below for the complete error message.
what we tested/configured:
* we use the native snowflake driver in PBI
* a large query (> 1 mln records) on Oracle database is not giving any errors. So the gateway server does not seem to be the issue.
* We added the following addresses to the whitelist of the gateway server:
o https://enexis.eu-west-1.privatelink.snowflakecomputing.com
o ocsp*.snowflakecomputing.com:80
o *.netsolssl.com:80
o *.usertrust.com:80
o *.ss2.us:80
o *.amazontrust.com:80
o *.amazonaws.com:443
o ocsp.digicert.com
For this we looked at a post for Tableau, but it seemed similar to our problem: https://community.tableau.com/message/710824#710824
My question his: does someone recognize this issue and has a resolution for this?
