Weird issue in unpivotting columns

Hi all,

Suppose we have 5 columns as shown below;

Capture.JPG

 Now , 1st step:- Remove Country column

           2nd Step:- Unpivot Order date and Sales Date

the Output will be as expected:-

Capture.JPG

Now, I want country column also:-

So, I click on the setting option given for the Removed Other column in Applied steps:-

Capture.JPG

After refreshing, i was expecting something like this

Capture.JPG

But, the output is :-

Capture.JPG

As you can see that even the country column is also get unpivoted. Though the issue look small, But when you have large number of steps, and later on if somebody want add an additional column in the visualisation, and this issues become very problematic and i need to delete all the steps till the point where i need to add a new column.

Hope in future updates this issue will be resolved.

Thanks

@rbiswas

I can repro the same issue as you. I’ve reported it internally to Power BI Team: CRI 31464957

I’ll post here once I get any update about it.

@rbiswas

I've got response from the team.

This is a feature request. For now the workaround is to write M manually (Table.Unpivot). For the April (CY17SU04) or May (CY17SU05) release of PBI Desktop, we plan to add a UI gesture for this (something like "Unpivot Only Selected Columns").

Best Regards,

Herbert
