Using Edge instead of IE in Power BI Desktop

Hello there,

As I understand Power BI desktop uses built-in IE browser that is actually very outdated.

Is it possible to use Edge instead?

There are a lot of issues with IE such as it does not support arrow functions those are used in scripts on login pages. So, there is no way to integrate some systems with Power BI...

Regards,

Alexander.

@ShengLiu,thanks for your reply.

I have recorded a short video that shows why I think PBI Desktop uses IE.

Can you explain how it's possible?

While I can see that Power BI Desktop uses CefSharp for some parts, it still seems that the OAuth2 StartLogin for custom connectors are started with Internet Explorer. This e.g. makes it impossible to authenticate with GitHub as GitHub doesn't support Internet Explorer anymore.

@mholo65,

yes, I meant the window that appears when PBI calls StartLogin function.

Of course, the main canvas for reports can't be under IE, it won't work at all.
