Unable to Install Power BI Gateway

Hi,

I am unable to install Power BI Gateway Installer.

My Machine Specifications:
             OS: 64 Bit OS

             Installed memory (RAM): 8GB

             Processor: i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz

             Office Version: 2010 (32 Bit)

             Power BI (32 Bit)

Mentioned below is the message I am getting.

"PowerBIGatewayInstaller has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Please close the program."

I'm not able to reproduce the issue on my side. Would you please share gateway log and event log as suggested in my previous post?

I've also tried the new installer on 10 other windows servers now, none of which have a previously installed copy of PowerBI Gateway. They all report the same fault in the error logs.

Is this just down to the fact that the installer runs as an unknown publisher?

I had the same problem.

GatewayInstaller doesn't have any information about publisher

This seems to be an issue for a lot of users at the moment Microsoft. I've attempted the same today uing both the PowerBIGatewayInstaller exe and GatewayInstall exe.

Both show the same error message and crash out of the install on x64 servers. I've tried over 5 servers now and each show the same :

I couldn't install update of On-Premise Data Gateway and previous version stop working!

Could some from Microsoft answer?

Hi all, 

I see many users report the issue when installing the gateway. As I'm not able to reproduce this issue on my side, I would like to collect detail information then report it internally to PG team. 

1. Which link/Where do you download the gateway? 

2. Does the issue occur when you install the personal mode gateway or on-premises data gateway? It would be better to see the issue if you could record a video. 

3. Please share your OS version. 

4. Please collect install log files with us. You can upload them to your OneDrive or Dropbox and send the link to me visa private message. 

For personal mode: 

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\On-premises_data_gateway_(personal_mode)_*.log.

For on-premise data gateway: 

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\On-premises_data_gateway_*.log

When the error occurs, there should be a button in UI for you to see log files as well.

I used both installation files but in my opinion problem is with GatewayInstall.exe

This file is not trusted due unknow publisher

OS version does not matter (Win10Pro, Win2016 STD).

The problem seems to be with On-Prem Data Gateway install, which in turn calls the GatewayInstall.exe setup.

This crashes out with the below error message :

The install doesnt even get as far as producing an error log, just crashes out straight away

Could it be that the problem occurs when you are not te first user to install the gateway on the machine? I have te same problem (unable to install, error 0xc00..5 after complete de-install). And when I look in the logs I see mention of the admin who previously installed the gateway although I think he is not relevant in any way for the current (re-)install.
