Report Server (August 2018) - Massive show stopper bug where users are required to clean up cache

Hi Team,

We have a massive issue with the new August 2018 release. We have report server Version 1.2.6690.34729 (March 2018) installed and more than 100 users using the platform. We considered upgrading to August 2018 (Version 1.3.6816.37243) but had to rollback imediately as reports wouldn't load unless every user delete their cache (Browser Data). Given the amount of users we have this is just not a viable nor professional solution.

Are you guys working on a patch solution for this problem in the August 2018 version? Could you please confirm if we won't have another option but to clean up ever users cache after this upgrade or future upgrades?

Thank you,

We are having the same problem!! It would be great if there is a solution to avoid having to force everyone to delete their cache.

Hi @Anonymous@Anonymous,

When the users view report without cleaning browser cache, is there any error occurs?

Does the issue happen to Power BI reports or .rdl reports?

Hi everyone

We are having the same issue. RS runs out of memory. We have 200 users.

Anyone had any luck in how to resolve this?

Any solutions to this issue? We are experiencing the same problem, deleting the cache works only for a subset of users. Also clearing the cache in not a onetime thing, the same user is able to log in after deleting the cache but loses access randomly after logging in a few times.

Users either get an HTTP 400 error or no errors at all but keep being asked to enter their credentials.

Is this the same issue i'm experiencing?

Some users around the business open reports/dashboards and it doesn't autoupdate. Instead they see a version of the report/dash from a previous time. Sometimes refreshing doesn't even help.

This is massively infuriating.

Hallo  everyone.

We are about to upgrade to the August version of report server - we are a fairly large organisation, so we cant have all our users clean browsing cache.

Does anyone know if the problem is fixed yet ?

Kind Regards

Hi Team,

So far Microsoft has not commented about this problem. It is a huge issue for us as it will impact from the CEO to the Analysts and we don't want to go live until Microsoft fixes it. (175 users)

Even worse is that our UAT environment is already using the new features and we don't want to rebuild those UAT reports in the old version.

A bit disappointing that no one from Microsoft has replied to this problem yet.

Good luck!

Hi,

We are facing the same issue with our client and we have 1500 users and they cannot clear the cache as they are not given the access on their decive to do that. So please solve this issue ASAP and let us know how long will it take to resolve this MAJOR issue.

Hi all,

This issue is resolved in the January 2019 release of PBIRS and it will no longer be required to clear your browser cache upon upgrading.

Thanks!

@chrisfin,

Our organization just upgraded from the March 2018 version to the January 2019 version of PBIRS and I, along with other users, are still experiencing this issue. Without deleting the cache all of the Power BI reports will just sit and spin (SSRS reports seem to operate without issue). Could you clarify if this issue was resolved IN the January 2019 release or if it will be resolved in the subsequent release?

If this was truly resolved in the January 2019 release is there something that we can change on the report server side to allow our end users to access these reports without asking them all to clear their cache?

Thank you,

Jacob
