Rename Columns Hangs PBIX file for Large Models

I have a PBIX file with a large number of tables and columns. Beginning several releases ago, renaming a column in the model hangs the entire PBIX file and the only way to salvage it is to close the application and retrieve the latest saved file. The workaround is to rename the columns in Power Query which works fine.
