Publish complete but can't refresh data set

I am attempting to publish from the desktop and I have been getting this error message for over an hour:

2020-01-22 14_18_27-Window.png

There is no additional information with which to troubleshoot, and the service status says there are no performance issues at this time. Can anyone assist?

Thanks

@dedelman_clng ,

Which data source are you connecting? Generally, please clear the permissions in the data source settings option and check if this issue persists.

Hi Jimmy @v-yuta-msft

The data sources are local Excel files.  I went into Edit Queries -> Data Source Settings and clicked "Clear All Permissions". Then I attempted to publish and got the same error message.

What should I try next?

Thanks

David

@v-yuta-msft  I renamed the old dataset and republished the report, and it is now working correctly.

Would like to know if there is some way I could see that a dataset is corrupt vs a system error. Is this possible?

Thanks

David
