PowerBi Snowflake Connector from AWS to Azure AD gives non-descript error

We are working to setup the SSO connection between Snowflake on AWS and Azure AD for Power BI authentication. While we are able to make a direct database connection, the SSO integration with Azure AD continues to give us a non-descript error. We have white listed the Azure AD addresses to open the relationship, but this did not address the issue. Below is the trace message.

Hi @Anonymous,

Please check if Snowflake AAD integration is configured on the Snowflake side correctly base on this document

In Power BI desktop, please choose Microsoft Account option to sign in your account for Snowflake data source, see: https://www.snowflake.com/blog/using-sso-between-power-bi-and-snowflake/

Please run the latest Power BI desktop version 2.79.5768.721

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Hi @Anonymous,

I found the same issue already reported internally: CRI 180343037. Fix will be available in April release of Power BI Desktop. The workaround is to use Basic authentication on March desktop or continue using February version of Desktop.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Unfortunately even after following all necessary steps and downloading the latest version of PowerBI desktop (version 2.79.5768.1082 published on 4/1/2020). This error still persists. @v-qiuyu-msft , could you provide a link to an earlier release, may be December 2019 that works fine with the Snowflake Azre SSO integration.

This is necessary in order for our BI developers to continie development pending the release of another bug free version.

@Anonymous - Version 2.79.5768.1082 published on 4/1/2020 would be considered the March release. April's release is not out yet.

Reverting to Version: 2.78.5740.1101 64-bit (February 2020) solved the same issue from the original post for us.
