PowerBI scheduled refresh is incomplete but marked as complete

Hello,

I created and published a power bi report that has a scheduled refresh twice a day and pulls data via ODBC from Presto. Most of the times the scheduled refresh works properly and the data is displayed correctly but sometimes just a fraction of the data is pulled and the refresh is still marked as completed within the refersh history.

Additional information:

My questions:

  • Is this a known issue? And if yes, when can we expect a fix?
  • Is there any possibility to monitor this? Does Power BI gateway logs include the numbers of rows fetched when refreshed? Or maybe there is a service API that could help? Any ideas?
  • Any ideas how this can be avoided in general? The main issue is actually not that the refresh is incomplete (I am aware that something can go wrong) but rather that it's marked as complete.

 Thanks in advance.

Best,

Philipp

@pejay ,

What is the version of your gateway ? It is not possible to check the numbers of rows fetched when refreshed.

In your scenairo, schedule refresh works sometimes. Do you set schedule refresh for several datasets in same time? And do you get this issue for other datasets?

Regards,
Lydia

Hello,

thanks for your reply.

  • We have multiple data sets getting refreshed at the same time, all through one gateway.
  • We also experienced the same issue on other data sets
  • We used the Version of December 2018 until yesterday, now we updated to 3000.1.257 (February 2019)

We had the same issue yesterday with the newest Power BI Gateway Version 3000.1.257 (February 2019).

Haven't heard anything so far. @v-yuezhe-msft, it would be great if https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/datasets/getdatasets would return the size of the dataset. It seems like it just supports this datasets created via API.

We still face this issue regularly.
