PowerBI crashes on creating custom columns

Hi All,

I am facing an error on creating new columns (formula) in PowerBI, whenver I do so the SQLDUMPER.EXE opens and the PowerBI crashes immediately. Sometimes it also happens on opening the PowerBI file.

I have already downloaded the latest release, but still I am facing the same issue. Please see my stacktrace below.

Hi @heshamamr,

Which data source do you get data from and which formula do you use to create a new column? From the error message, it looks like you import data to Power BI desktop, right?

As you mentioned "Sometimes it also happens on opening the PowerBI file.", does the issue happens to specific reports or all reports. Please check if there is any special setting in these issued reports.

Please enable the desktop trace, and repeat steps to reproduce the issue. share desktop trace log with us.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Hi Vicky,

The data source is SharePoint custom list, and I am using PowerBI desktop to import the data. It happens in different reports on my pc and on other pcs as well, so I don't think it is related to the settings on this report.

The function I am trying to use in this specific case is USERRELATION, but I think it is related to any function that requires SQL Server Analysis

The stack trace after enable tracing is attached.

Hi @heshamamr,

>>The function I am trying to use in this specific case is USERRELATION, but I think it is related to any function that requires SQL Server Analysis

Would you please share detail steps for us to reproduce the issue? If possible please share a pbix file.

Also you can try to update the Power BI desktop to the latest version 2.59.5135.421 then test again.

Please enable desktop trace and share trace log with us: https://ruiromanoblog.wordpress.com/2016/01/08/power-bi-desktop-trace-logs-analyser/
