PowerBI Report Refresh doesn't refresh data.

Hello ,

I have published my report online. My PowerBI Report Refresh doesn't refresh data. It only refreshes if i go and refresh my dataset manually. What is the use of this report refresh button??? if it cannot refresh data?

Now in below screenshot you can see that data got refreshed once i pressed refresh dataset button.

For the Refresh button in report page, it's only relevant for live connections to Analysis Services. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-data#refresh-of-report-visuals

In your scenario, if you use import mode to get data, you can manually refresh dataset via Refresh Now or set schedule refresh. If you use DirectQuery mode, the report data updates when we interact with report or click on Refresh Now of the dataset. Thanks for claryfying my doubts. Yes with excel we have to refresh dataset.

I believe live connections to Analysis Services & DirectQuery mode is normally possible with SQL server or something similar. Thank you once again.
