Hi @gma,

It’s a known issue: Users may receive an error after clicking the "Update app" button to update new changes in the app after the app UI was upgraded. This error happens even if the app doesn't have too many people granted access to it. Error message: Failed to publish app. Part of the fix has been deployed into product environment and will be finished before the end of this month. Please be patient for the fix. Thanks for your understanding!

Here is a workaround for this update issue.
1. Go to "Content" page in app update flow
2. Click on "Add content". Uncheck all and click save
3. Click on "Add content". Check the artifacts that you want to include in the app, and click save
4. Go to "Audience" page and enable the content for relevant audience.
5. Click "Update"

Dear, Community Support Team _ Caiyun,

its all beacause of audience restriction .if you have guts first you answer to this - we need unlimited audience access as like erlier. you didnot answer about giving option to choose old app update interface too.

Dont simply ignore and bluff your customers.

Hi @gma,

Since your issue is that you couldn't update your app after upgrading to new experience, so I just post the fix info for this issue.

Earlier, we have confirmed with the product group regarding the capability to switch back to old app experience but they don't have such a plan for now. And they prefer the new app experience for some improvements during distributing content to others . As for the audience restriction, they actually made some changes on the sharing. And there is some known issues related to it as well: Unable to update apps in the new app experience- Organizational App Updates now enforce the documented limit of 100 users or groups.

Public documentation already documents a limit of 100 users or groups to whom the app may be shared. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-create-distribute-apps#considera... . Previously the product group were not enforcing this limit due to a bug. Recently, they started enforcing this limit. Some customers who update their app and have shared it to more than 100 users previously will run into an issue when updating the app. They are aware of this issue and are increasing the share-user limit to 1000 and that change will be started recently and finished early October.

If you would like unlimited audience sharing, which means you perfer some changes to the design, you may consider submitting your ideas in Power BI Ideas. It's a place the product group collects suggestions from uers to improve the product. Link of Power BI Ideas is Ideas (powerbi.com).

Workaround for the known issue mentioned in this post:
The workaround is provided in the documentation itself. • You can have at most 100 users or groups in the access list for the app. However, you can give more than 100 users access to the app. To do so, use one or more user groups that contain all the desired users.
