Power Query: optional parameter of type table defaults to #"null"

If a custom function is created with an optional parameter of type table: when the function is invoked via the query list or via the Query Editor - Add Column - Invoke Custom Function, without a value for the optional parameter of type table, the function is invoked with #"null" for the table parameter, instead of null.

This causes an expression error stating that the name 'null' wasn't recognized.
