Power Bi Showing - "The user or group is not recognized"

Hello guys, 

We are quite new to power bi  .. 

We keep on seeing this error when removing Row Level Security on one of the reports in Power Bi Server: 

Server logs backend are showing the following: 

2019-08-30 09:09:43.8661|INFO|89|UnknownUserNameException when normalizing user names: <username here>
2019-08-30 09:09:44.0223|INFO|89|UnknownUserNameException when normalizing user names: <username here>
2019-08-30 09:09:44.0692|INFO|89|UnknownUserNameException when normalizing user names: <username here>
2019-08-30 09:09:44.1005|INFO|89|UnknownUserNameException when normalizing user names: <username here>
2019-08-30 09:09:44.2098|INFO|89|UnknownUserNameException when normalizing user names: <username here>

Would you know what the exception means the cause of the message prompts?

Hi @Louise, 

From the error message, it looks like the user/group is invalid. Please check if this user/group does exist in your organization. Also please check if you hit the limitations listed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/row-level-security-report-server#limitations

Instead using Delete Role Assignment, you can check the user/group directly then click on Delete.

we were unable to delete and add new members to the RLS since it keeps prompting that the problematic IDs are not recognized. We also tried to remove them thru Delete Role Assignment still the same tho. 

To resolved this, we republished the report and then manually added the members to thr RLS role. 

Do you know how we could prevent this from happening again? How do we remove RLS for user IDs that are no longer active?
