Power BI Time Intelligence is incompatible with Excel

Date/Time hierarchies created by Power BI are not recognized by Excel.

What makes this worse is that the date field, which does come into Excel, is recognized as text so it is impossible to summarize data in a pivot table connected to a Power BI data set.  This makes the  "Analyze with Excel" feature of Power BI practically useless unless you create your own date tables and build all measures against them.

In my use case, I migrated a large data mnodel from Excel/Power Query to Power BI and removed all my old date tables since they weren't needed any more.  Now it appears as if I wiill have to add them back in order for my user community to be able to do the same ad hoc reporting they could in teh older technology.

My apologies for the typos.  What a bad day to forget my glasses!

THis does make working with our models in Excel very painful.  Probably the biggest blocker towards getting more adoption in our company.
