Noticed that the error message says "api.powerbi.com"..  shouldn't this be "app.powerbi.com"?

I have tried everything..  March, April verions..  32bit, 64bit

nothing seems to work. Power BI Desktop just won't connect to Power BI Datasets.

I have made a test but couldn't reproduce your issue. The desktop version on my side is 2.82.5858.961 64-bit (June 2020). 

If this issue persists, please click "Copy details" and submit the error details in a support ticket here for further analysis.

We have users here who experienced the same error. Was related to the enforcement of TLS 1.2.
