Power BI Desktop freeze on the 'update' popup when try to connect with cryptography

Dear Community,

setup:

• Power BI Desktop for RS (August 2018)
• Direct Query
• Sap HANA without cryptography (development environment)
• Open from new VM (no user-defined connection setting exists!).

steps:

1. Try to open pbix file
2. Due to default connection settings, PBI Desktop try to connect with cryptography, failing
3. PBI Desktop popups the error 'Sap HANA doesn't support cryptography'
4. The 'Update connections' popup can't be closed, Power BI Desktop can't be closed with X button.

workaround:

1. Open pbix file, get the error, kill PBI Desktop task (this is needed to load file's connection settings).
2. Open PBI Desktop, remove check from cryptography checkbox on datasource settings panel.
3. Open pbix file (now user-defined 'no cryptography' is used -> it works)

Am I doing something wrong?

For this issue, I would suggest you create a support ticket to Microsoft and let engineers look into your environment to investigate the issue.
