Power BI Desktop crashes when updating queries

I am using the latest Power BI Desktop (Version: 2.75.5649.582 64-bit (November 2019)) and have suddenly issues in renaming columns.

 

After changes have been made (Apply query changes), it takes a long time to creating connection in model, then the Desktop reports: "Something went wrong, an error ocurred while rendering the report".

 

After that, the Desktop has to be terminated via the Task Manager.

 

Background: I need to update column names regularly, as my source file is changed frequently. I did this method for more than a year now, but suddenly it crashes with the symptoms above.

Which kind of column name will result in Power BI desktop crash? Please share more information so we can try to test the issue on our side.

Hello Quiyun,

thanks for taking care! It's not a specific column name. I am changing the names with pasting the respective statement in the Advanced Query Editor, because manually adapting the changes is cumbersome with a "broad" Excel Sheet and multiple Power BI Reports.

 

Please find below the statement - which I place at the beginning of all my report definitions. It was working well for more than one year:
