Power BI Desktop app not opening and giving an error

I was using the free trial Power BI Desktop app before switching to Power BI Pro. I ended up having both the old free version of Microsoft Power BI Desktop app and the new version of Power BI Desktop app for a pro user. I had already build some reports with the old version and yesterday when trying to open the new version I got this error:bi_error.png

Below are the details of the error message copied to the clipboard:

I did try reporting this issue by pressing the button on the popup and sent it over:

I was recommended to unistall both versions of Power BI Desktop app, reboot my laptop and then install the new version again but that didn't solve the issue.

I would highly appreciate prompt help on this issue.

hi

Try to install the previous version to test it again.

Hi Lin,

Thanks for your response! I was able to solve the issue by installing the new version as a different user on my laptop and it worked. The only inconvenience was that I had to switch my whole account to that new user but at least it working now.

Thank you for your help!
