PRODUCTION ISSUE: Installed content packs disappeared from My Workspace & cannot be reinstalled

This morning most of my installed Content Packs were no longer listed under My Workspace. When I go to Get Data and click Get It Now to reinstall, I receive an error "We couldn't import data from <report name>. Make sure you are entering information correctly." (Ex: We couldn't import data from Daily Booked Orders..."

One clue could be that there are two content packs that are unaffected by this issue, and the one thing that differentiates them is how they are permissioned. The missing content packs are permissioned via Office 365 groups, whereas one of the two unaffected content packs is published to Entire Organization, and the other has named individuals in the permissions list.

Hi @hymieho,

Please contact the Office 365 group owner to check if your power bi account is in this group firstly.

We were able to open a Premier support incident last night. This morning we received a pointer to this page which lists "individuals, distribution groups, or security groups" as options for sharing reports, and we were advised to use one of the supported options.

Major bummer, Microsoft... a little advance warning would have been nice before yanking this feature. Also, the experience of seeing a content pack in the AppSource gallery, then having it fail during installation with that cryptic error message is suboptimal. Why are we allowed to choose an Office 365 group in a content pack's permissions page in the first place if we are ultimately unable to use it?

Hi @hymieho,

The link you shared is about sharing dashboards. But your thread title is sharing content pack if I don't misunderstand it. From this article, the content pack should be able to shared with individuals, Office 365 groups, distribution groups, or security groups.

As you already open a premium support ticket, you can deliver this information to Microsoft engineers and let them help check what happen to the content pack actually.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Please follow up with a resolution for the rest of us, did the premium support ticket help you get an actual answer?

Hi all, sorry there was no resolution. We ended up creating mail-enabled security groups for permissioning.

The following thread seems similar and has info indicating a fix coming in April 2018?
