PBI Embedded error - sudden resource governings error

Hi,

In our company we have an A1 Embedded capacity on a workspace which always was sufficient for our datasets & reports automic refreshes.  However from about early november the amount of resource error rised significantly when automatically refreshed.  Also for reports that always refreshed without errors.  No significant changes were made in the workspace or reports so the error is quite sudden.

I was wondering if anyone knows if something has changed with the embedded capacity (with gen 2 comming GA or throtteling limits redefined etct).

I did some test with no luck unfortuneatly.

- made a new resource + workspace with single report on a A1 sku to start from stratch

- increased capacity to see minimal required sku for automatic refreshes. (A3 is now required whilst previously A1 was enough)

- checked azure metrics overload. No overloads.
- checked capacity metrics analysis. no overloads. artifacts size are all < 0,15gb, no overloads. CPU (s) < SKU limits

Thank you in advance!

Status: Investigating

Hi,

According to my research, this issue may be related to the Generally Available of the next generation of Power BI Premium (Gen 2). Because the architecture of the resources consumption within a single Power BI tenant is different between the Gen1 and Gen2, the memory is not limited in the Gen2 capacity but the SKU time is the potential reason that may lead to the data refresh failure.

If you want to want to get a solution for this kind of problem pointed to your specific tenant as soon as possible, I suggest you to open a support ticket to get direct help from the technical support team of Microsoft.
