PBI Desktop crashing trying to load from Excel (local) - any file

I'm simply trying to connect to a local (this PC) Excel file, and every time I select the file then try to load it, PBI crashes.

Initially I thought it was because Windows 10 by default saves files to OneDrive, so instead I saved the file to 

C:\Users\rod_w\Desktop,

then tried to point Power BI there as the source and yet it's still crashing every time. 

I then thought it might be an issue with that particular file, so instead I selected another file, and the same thing is happening.

I cannot reproduce the issue. You may try to download version from here and reopen the file.
