Issue: Power BI Desktop September 2021 freezes Snagit

Trying to capture a screen area that includes part of the Power BI Desktop window froze SnagIt. The issue is specific to the following combination of versions: 

Power BI Desktop September 2021

SnagIt 2021.4.3 and 2021.4.4

If I use SnagIt 2021.4.2, it works. If I use the Power BI Desktop August 2021 release it works.

FYI, Same issue reported to Tech Smith to hopefully work together. SnagIt frozen with Power BI Desktop September 2021 – TechSmith Support

Hi, 

I think you can follow these steps to downgrade the SnagIt to 2021.4.2 to avoid the issues:

  1. Uninstall SnagIt (otherwise, you cannot downgrade)
  2. Download the version 2021.4.2 from this link: https://download.techsmith.com/snagit/releases/2142/snagit.exe
  3. Install SnagIt 2021.4.2

Hi,

Using PBI Desktop Oct'21 version with SnagIt 21.4.4 (64x) build 12541 - still an issue.

This is still an issue. I am using SnagIt version 2022.0.0, Build 14133.

PowerBI Version: 2.110.805.0 64-bit (October 2022)

Same issue here:

SnagIt version 2022.0.0 (64 bit) (Build 14113) (Direct2D 1.1) - 8/11/2021

PowerBI Desktop: 2.116.843.0 64-bit (April 2023)

 

I only started experiencing this issue a couple of months ago after upgrading my work laptop. Unclear if it was the PowerBI or Snagit build that changed at that time, or an issue with my PC.
