Help: We weren't able to restore the saved database to the model.

After publishing a dataset to the service with the newest release of power bi Desktop, I am recieving the error "We weren't able to restore the saved database to the model.". Even the downloaded pbix from the service still gives this error. The dataset in the service is fine, and has the changes, but I am not able to add anything further to the dataset now.

@mmosc ,

It's weird, I could not reproduce this issue on my side. My power bi desktop version is 2.79.5768.721 64-bit (March 2020) and power bi service version is 13.0.12887.307. Does this issue only occur on the march version?

I'm not sure. I've tried installing prior Power BI desktop versions, but they don't even recognize the pbix, I get a different error, something like "object not set to instance". I'm assuming this is because its using the new models metadata feature.  I have a version of the pbix, prior to the updates made, but I lost quite a bit of work with it.  I looked at these errors throughout the community, and tried every one of them with no resolution.

PBI Desktop 2.79.5768.1082 64-bit (March 2020)

I'm not sure where to go for the service version.

Thanks,

Mike
