Filtered visuals connected to ssas tabular model failing to load

I've got a working SSAS 17 tabular model on my PC, which is working fine in SSMS and Excel.

I can connect to the model in PBI, and I can connect visuals to the measures and data items just fine. For clarity, this is all local on my machine, and I'm not using a the remote connector.

However, when I apply a filter to the page, or use a visual to filter the data on screen, the visuals on the page all fail to load.

The only error message shown is: "An unexpected exception occured."

If I used a dashboard that is not using SSAS, the interconnected visuals work just fine.

Hi @SynergyDWilkins,

I guess you already applied CU13 for SQL Server 2017 for your tabular instance.

The same issue was reported by other user before. To work around the issue you can uninstall CU13 for SQL Server 2017. You need to contact SQL team for help as I mentioned in this same thread: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Cannot-display-visual-when-enabling-visual-filter/idi-p/5897...

Exact same issue here. Also CU13 - took me a while to figure out what was the cause. Good to read it is being addressed. Thanks.

Hi all,

I got information internally this morning:

FIX (To Customer):

It will be addressed in next 2017 CU. KB4487751 (not published yet).

ETA is mid-late Feb, 2019.

WORKAROUND (temporary):

Roll back /uninstall the CU13 - Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Cumulative Update Package 13 for SQL Server 2017 - KB4466404
