Field descriptions in report model disappear after refreshing data

Using Power BI Desktop Feb 2022 Release

I have an existing PBIX file that has just a report model, no visuals.  There are many fields where I've spent tedious hours adding descriptions.  Now when I try to refresh the model, all field descriptions are lost.  If I refresh only a single table then only field descriptions in that table are lost.  I am able to make other model changes like hiding/unhiding an attribute.

Reverted to Power BI Desktop Dec 2021 Release and I am able to refresh data without losing descriptions.

Seems this is a bug.

Update:

Engineers are working on a fix for the April release of Desktop and will add it to one of the iterations for the March release.

I verified it as fixed in April release.  I have not checked the May release.
