I am getting this error after editing Desktop file and adding new calculations.  Before editing this working file all seemed to be fine.  I was adding Calculation Groups and then additional measures using filter refrences to the calculation groups.  After saving the file twice with the new calculation I got this same error.  I am not doing any really complex DAX.

The file willl not open in Desktop however we were able to upload this to our Premium site and actually see the functional report without any issues.  I have used the March Version of desktop and the April version of desktop with the same result.

if you try another power bi previous versions see if it works well.

I have the same problem - just wasted a full day working on a pbix and it doesn't open.  Insane.

In the end I had to recreate the PBIX file.  Fortunately we were able to upload the file to Power BI server and at least see it and pull out the Calculations that were created.  The rest was not hard to recreate just time consuming.  We tried various versions Desktop that did not work going up or down in version levels.  We got gun shy when recreating the new PBIX and only changed a few things and saved and reopened the file to see if we could isolate what created the originally problem but in the end we could not reproduce it.

I have the same issue from time to time - my reports works with a SQL Server connection and I found a workaround to be able to open my dashboards:
Instead of opening the file, I create a new connection with my database in a blank file and I select any table to load in it.

Once Power BI manage to create this connection, then I finally open my report.

Doing this I managed to open all my reports without any problems. I don't know if it works for other source types, but give it a try and maybe it will help you.

   Even you try to install previous version PBI or uninstall and reinstall, it also won't help. It could be the file corrupted.
