Error when setting up Gateway Data Refresh

There is no error when the data refresh is done through PowerBI Desktop. The dataset includes a query to SAP BW (import mode) and excel files from a Sharepoint folder. Here's the error message when refreshing the data from the Gateway: Cannot connect to the mashup data source. See error details for more information. Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details. Underlying error code: -2147467259 Table: Actual Costs. Underlying error message: The key didn't match any rows in the table. Please share detail gateway logs with us. You can upload them to your OneDrive and send the share link to me via private message. 


To enable the Mashup logs for the Gateway service on the Gateway machine then repeat steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Stop Gateway service PBIEgwService. (look at task manager to locate the service)
  2. Open the file in a text editor like notepad: C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.GatewayCore.dll.config 
  3. Search for "MashupExtendedTracing" in the file 
  4. Update the flag "MashupExtendedTracing" to True as the following: 

                     <setting name="MashupExtendedTracingserializeAs="String"> 



     e. Using the Gateway Configurator to enable the "Additional logging". 
     f. Restart the service
