Error message: There is an error in XML document (1, 1)

I am getting this message when opening a PBIX file or when opening a new PBIX file. 

There is an error in XML document (1, 1)

I checked several options like:

- Deleting AppData

- Uninstall gateway

- Reinstall PBI Desktop

- Clearing cache

- Run as administrator

But the error remains there. 

Please help me out to restore this problem.

It looks like the issue happens to some specific pbix files, right? Would you please share issued pbix files with us? You can upload them to your OneDrive and send the link to me via private message.

It happens to every PBIX file I am opening. Even when opening an empty Power BI Desktop file. 

I cannot share the PBIX file.

 I'm facing this same issue today. It's been working fine the whole week and now this happens. I've tried everything you've mentioned as well and still can't fix it.

I am using the 'app' version and that works. But the other version won't work.
