Dataset refresh is very slow for SharePoint Online dataset

Hi all,

I have a dataset from SharePoint Online list. I'm using Import. The dataset refresh both in my local desktop file and in service is taking very long time(45 mins - 1 hr). I have expanded "Field values as text", removed all redundant columns which I dont want, changed types for required columns and have renamed few columns as well. Is there any way to bring the refresh time considerably down?

I have other sources also(teradata & oracle). But those are loading fast. Only the issue is with SharePoint online.

Please help.

Thanks,

Puneeth

Hi @Anonymous,

In Power BI desktop, please get data from this same SharePoint online list, check how long the data can be retrieved. If it doesn't spend more time, please try to optimize data model in your original report: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-reports-performance#optimize-your-model

Also you can use SQL profiler to check performance when you refresh the data in Power BI desktop: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-reports-performance#deep-dive-into-query-performance-with-sql-profiler-and-power-bi-desktop
