Dataset Settings - Edit Credentials - Authentication Method blank - Unable to refresh on server

Hey everyone! Having a weird issue in our main dataset that we haven't been able to fix or find a solution/lead in the PBI community site so I am posting it now in hopes someone can help! The scheduled refresh is disabled until we are able to fix it.  Please reference the attached screenshot.PBI Authentication Method Blank.jpgspinning.jpg

  • The error in PBI service is " Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again."
  • The error is specifically for our Salesforce credentials, and when I click the button to edit my credentials, the drop-down for Authentication Method is blank, then i click sign in, the wheel never stops spinning and I am unable to get to the screen to enter credentials
  • I am able to refresh in desktop with no issues
  • I have checked that my credentials in data source settings are correct
  • I updated to the newest versions of PBI and on premises gateway(personal mode)
  • I have cleared the cache and tried different browsers
  • I have tried all privacy settings as well

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

For this problem, I would suggest you create a support ticket for further analysis.

Hi, were you able to find a solution? I've used the Salesforce connector but I had some issues updating my data too. As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
