We have created some reports using Import Query method and we are in PROD and PowerBI premium and we have scheduled them daily at 9 AM EST. We have around 4 datasets, and what happened last thursday was 3 of the datasets got succeded and 1 of them kept on running. Unfortunately we believe there is no option to kill the running dataset refresh.
There were no issues with back end dataset or the data volume, it was pretty normal as how it was for the previous days, we tried to restart the gateway also and this did not kill the dataset refresh. And could not publish the Pbix file again.
When we researched ,we identified that some else also faced a similar kind of issue(link below) and remediating this they had to reboot the machine where the gateway server is installed and that killed the dataset refresh and when they refreshed the dataset again, it completed without any issues.

We tried the same, we rebooted the machine where the gateway was installed and the dataset refresh got killed and when refreshed the dataset again, it ran fine without any errors and we monitored the day after that, it ran as part of scheduled run itself fine and completed without errors.
So, it looks like a random error and these kind of random errors really worry us as we are in PROD. So could someone please help understand,
1. Why this error would have happened or in other words, why the dataset was keep on running for long (there were no DB downtime).
2. Is there any way to kill the dataset refresh or is this feature is going to be added by Microsoft soon? If so when please?
