Database exceeds the maximum size limit on disk

We are suddenly receiving "Database exceeds the maximum size on disk" errors on a dataset in a Premium P2 workspace with "large models" enabled.

I am unable to even connect to the dataset as a a result of this error.

Prior to the error, there is no indication that we were approaching any sort of size threshold, as the dataset size is around 10-11 GB on a P2, which should give us more than enough room to refresh it.

Status: Investigating

Hi @nicg

May I know whether your P2 capacity enables Premium Gen2?

Up to now, if you refresh your dataset, will you get same issue?

The issue is resolved. The problem was with the "Max Offline Dataset Size" setting in the capacity admin portal. Bumping it up from the default of 10 GB did the trick.

I'm not sure it makes sense to default this setting to 10 GB in a "large model" scenario.

@v-cazheng-msft I am on Gen 2 P3 capacity and started to get this error since Sunday.

Also, we are not able to open the report or refresh or change parameters.

I tried to connect from SSMS to see the file size, but getting the same error.

(I have raised an MSFT Ticket, but as of now no resolution found from the team)
